Welcome to the Sacred Heart

Perry County's Least Exclusive Gated Community

In 2000, Sacred Heart of Magnet, Inc. obtained the church grounds of the Sacred Heart Church, which served Perry County parishioners until the mid-1970's.  The church recreation hall, built in 1950, still stands and now serves as the community center for Sacred Heart members, friends, and guests.

A brief history of the Sacred Heart Parish is found on the very interesting Southern Indiana Connections website:

The Magnet community celebrates the new ownership of Guillaume's Store.  And mourns the closing of our Official Bar and a neighborhood anchor, Betty Ray's Landing.
From the proprietor Kenny Colgate:
Bettyrays has been closed down because the county health department and the state have  determined that the septic tank is not functioning properly and must be replaced before reopening, after having perk tests done at a cost of one thousand dollars per test all over the property no place is acceptable not even where it has been for a hundred years or more ,only other option would be a holding tank that would have to be over 5 thousand gallons and would have to be pumped every couple weeks . That’s not feasible for a small family owned business thats been in this area for 25 years and the only restaurant in the area for all the new homes in the area and people that come every year to the cabins. All the locals. We love you guys and are so very saddened by this situation. We will miss all our loyal customers and friends. We thank the Stimleys for all their support and patience during this time of crisis. We are truly sorry that this has happened to all of us. This area will not be the same without Bettyrays. With heavy heart we say goodbye to a tradition that is will over 100 years old. The guidelines of the state are more important than tradition and good home cooking and family and friends. From Kenny, Windy, Brandie and Kayla. With love good bye.
